ASCENT Program

What is ASCENT?

Accelerating Students through Concurrent Enrollment (ASCENT) is a fifth-year high school program (fall and spring semesters) that covers tuition costs at a participating college the year following 12th grade. Eligible and approved ASCENT students are able to attend a participating college (trade school, community college or approved four-year university) and DCSD will cover the tuition costs. The ASCENT program gives students the opportunity to continue their education, save money, and start the path leading to a career in their chosen field.

As a result of the passage of the Public School Finance bill (HB22-1390), significant changes were made to the ASCENT program this year. The number of postsecondary credit hours required to be eligible to participate in the ASCENT program is now 9 (reduced from 12). Allocation of state funding for ASCENT may change access to this program, based upon available state funds and approval.
